KDF Recruitment Is Ongoing – September 2025

You are welcome if you live under a rock and have not heard about this yet. The Ministry of Defense is mass-recruiting cadets, general duty recruits, specialist officers, tradeswomen/men, and constables. By the way, I hope you regularly keep tabs on our latest job updates to avoid missing out on fresh opportunities. Anyway, back to the star of the show. The recruitment is free. Do not fall for scammers who may try to steal your hard-earned money.

Key Requirements

  1. Kenyan citizenship
  2. Valid national ID
  3. Original documents
  4. Four copies of your national ID, academic certificates, and KRA pin certificate
  5. Age: 18-26 years (cadets and general duty recruits)
    Under 30 years (specialist officers and tradeswomen/men)
    Under 39 years (imams/chaplains)
  6. No criminal record
  7. Weight: Not less than 55.4 kg for men and 50.0 kg for women
  8. Height: Not less than 5′3″ for men and 5′0″ for women
  9. Female candidates should not be pregnant
  10. Medical fitness
  11. Not less than 2 years of experience for tradeswomen/men and specialist officers
  12. Regular Cadets: B in KCSE, with C+ in Mathematics, English, and 1 science subject
    (Successful candidates will be trained for 3 years and get a BSc degree in Defense and Security Studies after training)
  13. Graduate Cadets: Similar requirements as regular cadets, plus a bachelor's degree.
    (The training period will be 15 months)
  14. Specialist officers: Similar requirements as regular cadets, plus a bachelor's degree.
    (The training period will be 6 months)
  15. General duty recruits: Not less than D in KCSE
  16. Tradeswomen/men: Not less than a C in KCSE and a diploma
    Not less than D+ in KCSE and a certificate with Craft II or Government Trade Test Grade II
  17. Constables: Should be retired NYS women/men between 35-45 years or retired KDF members between 30-55 years
    Retired KDF members who served 9 years Color Service and retired honorably
    Discharge certificate with a minimum of "good" in conduct
  18. Medical: Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery, Dental Surgery, or Nursing
  19. Finance management: Bachelor's degree in banking, finance, or related fields
  20. Artisans: Craft or Certificate in Carpentry, Plant Operations, Automotive Electrician, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electrical Installation.

How To Apply

Only online applications will be accepted for cadets, tradesmen/women, and specialist officers. Interested candidates should apply via: https://recruit.mod.go.ke. The deadline is October 12, 2025. Successful candidates will be informed through print media between October 21 and 24, 2025.

Constables and general duty recruits can access the designated recruitment centers between October 13th, 2025, and October 25th, 2025.
